Skorpios Technologies and ColorChip Group Announce Strategic Partnership to Produce Optical Modules

Combining Skorpios’ Tru-SiPh™ Technology and ColorChip Volume Manufacturing Expertise.

San Diego, California. March 8, 2022 – Skorpios Technologies, Inc., a vertically integrated leader in heterogeneously integrated silicon photonics, and ColorChip Group, a glass-substrate photonics innovator and datacenter connectivity one-stop solution manufacturing service provider, today announced a strategic relationship to leverage Skorpios’ disruptive optical technology to provide optical modules at unheard-of prices. ColorChip will sell modules under its own brand, and private label modules for sale by Skorpios at various speeds and performance levels. They will also cooperate on future products such as Co-packaged Optics and Coherent Modules. Come learn about the partnership at Skorpios’s booth #5727 at the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) in San Diego March 8-10, or at ColorChip’s booth #3315.

“Combining Skorpios’ unique Tru-SiPh™ platform with the manufacturing excellence of ColorChip factory was an easy decision for us as we pursue high volume end customers,” said David Huff, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Skorpios. “The technical and manufacturing know-how and excellent cost structure of ColorChip really can show off the advantages of our platform.”

“Skorpios’ fully integrated optical functionality greatly simplifies our manufacturing and reduces our costs with known good die,” said Yigal Ezra, CEO of ColorChip. “Our long experience building modules with integrated photonic platforms reaches its ultimate with Skorpios’ product. We believe that Skorpios’ Silicon Photonics technology combined with our multi-million unit annual capacity will help the industry to enable single mode transceiver pricing at 50 cents per gigabit for 200G, 400G and beyond.”
